Subtitlers

  Responsibility Eligibility Commitment

English Subtitler

 Create English subtitles in assigned parts from Language Moderator.
  • Proficiency in both the original language and English.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.
 Should be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

Other Language Subtitler

 Create subtitles in assigned parts in language applied for.
  • Proficiency in both English and in the language applied for.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.
 Should be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

Segmenters

  Responsibility Eligibility Commitment

General Segmenter

 Create segments for assigned parts of a channel.
  • Understand the segment tool.
  • Understand timing for segments.
  • Graduation from NSSA sandbox program is preferred but not required.

Must be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

Chief Segmenter
  • Recruit, assign, and advise segmenters to work on parts of the channel.
  • Create segments.
  • Edit segments where needed from general segmenters.
  • Must have an Active Gold QC status.
  • 10,000+ Contributions.
  • Graduation from NSSA is preferred but not required.
 Must be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

 

 Moderators

  Responsibility Eligibility Commitment

English Moderators
  • Recruit subtitlers proficient in English language.
  • Verify English language proficiency of recruited subtitlers.
  • Assign English subtitlers parts of episodes to work on.
  • Advise subtitlers for any complicated translations.
  • Must have an Active QC Status.
  • Proficiency in English language & 3,000+ contributions in English.

Must be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

All Language Moderators
  • Fill in for Channel Manager when needed.
  • Notify segmenters, subtitlers and editors when episodes are ready to be worked on.
  • Notify Other Language Moderators when episodes are ready for other language translations.
  • Monitor Timed Comments for inappropriate behavior.
  • Must have an Active Gold QC status.
  • 10,000+ Contributions
    Proficiency in English.
 Must be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.

 Editors

  Responsibility Eligibility Commitment

Translation Editor (TE)
  • Perform the first pass of the editing after subtitlers complete their translations ensuring all the translations are complete.
  • Add explanations of the translations where necessary (i.e. idioms, innuendos, figurative language, cultural nuances, etc).
  • Must have an Active QC Status.
  • Proficiency in English language & 3,000+ contributions in English.
  • Availability when new episodes are released or until the channel’s last episode is released.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.

General Editors
  • Perform the second pass of the editing after the Translation Editor has completed their pass.
  • Check for basic grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ensures that the sentence flows smoothly in the newly translated language, correcting any issues.
  • Inserts italics, music symbols, round brackets, square brackets and any other things that may have been missed.
  • Must have an Active Gold QC status.
  • 10,000+ Contributions
  • Proficiency in English
  • Availability when new episodes are released or until the channel’s last episode is released.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.

Final Editors
  • Final check for any grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure mistakes.
  • Release fully edited episodes to non-English languages by notifying All Language Moderators.
  • Same as General Editor requirements.
  • This role may be combined with the General Editor role and therefore may not exist depending on the channel.
  • Availability when new episodes are released or until the channel’s last episode is released.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.

Chief Editors
  • Oversee the Moderators, Translation Editors, and General Editors.
  • Responsible for doing the final edits or assigning a Final Editor.
  • Release fully edited episodes to other languages by notifying All Language Moderators (if the Channel Manager chooses to leave this responsibility to this role).
  • Active Gold QC status.
  • Same as General Editor requirements.
  • Availability when new episodes are released or until the channel’s last episode is released.
  • Commitment to finishing the project.

 

 Managers

  Responsibility Eligibility Commitment

Channel Manager (CM)
  • Recruit (if needed) Chief Segmenter, Segmenters, Language Moderators, Editors, Channel Page Designers*.
  • Lead team to succeed in completing channel segments & subtitles of highest quality.
  • Advise team when issues arise amongst team members.
  • Must have an Active Gold QC Status.
  • 10,000+ Contributions.
 Must be available/active during the days that new episodes are released if not throughout the duration of the broadcast of the drama.
