While (3) Editor positions are recognized at Viki, only two (2) Editors roles can currently be assigned when adding an Editor to a channel team. Use the table below to determine which Editor role should be assigned based on a Contributor’s main responsibilities.
As a general rule, the Editor role is used for those doing general editing or for someone in a Chief Editor position while the Translation Editor role is used for those doing translation editing. This applies across all languages.

* Chief Editor position is normally for English editing teams. Other language teams can decide whether or not a Chief Editor position makes sense for their language being edited.
Here are the permissions that come with an assigned Editor or Translation Editor role:
- Ability to edit subtitles on Subtitle Editor and via Bulk Translation
- Ability to add or edit Team Notes
- Ability to access and post messages on Team Discussions
- Ability to lock or unlock English subtitles
